I was so excited to receive this package: a) because I’ve never tried Dermalogica’s products before; and b) because I have awful acne-prone skin and have been searching for a cure! The Dermalogica line is sold at my go-to spa and I’ve heard nothing but good things. The only hesitation I’ve ever had is, well, I’m a cheap mother f and have been nervous to break the bank for a disappointing product. Dermalogica can be a little pricey, but they’ve made their new Clear Start line MUCH more affordable.
The products reviewed in this post are vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and have no artificial colours or fragrances.
BLACKHEAD CLEARING FIZZ MASK
So first things first, I absolutely loved this product! After the first use, I already knew I’d be using this again. It's unscented (bonus for sensitive skin), the packaging is cute and simple, and the product is easy to apply and feels amazing! It feels like a silky lotion when you apply, and buttery cream when you rinse off the fizz—big fan of this because more often than not, products that target acne and/or oily-prone skin tend to leave your skin dry and lifeless. So I was glad that wasn't the case with this mask.
Full disclosure, a little product does NOT go a long way with this mask. It comes out of the bottle almost like a lotion, and I was generously applying before I got any fizzing action. That being said, this left my skin feeling instantly softer and my pores tighter.
BREAKOUT CLEARING BOOSTER This product is meant to target blackheads before they turn into breakouts, and I honestly saw a noticeable difference in my problem areas almost instantly. No joke, probably within 15 minutes to a half hour. Would definitely recommend.
I was so excited to try this product—my acne-prone skin used to live off spot treatments like this and I almost forgot how effect they can be. While the packaging was cute, I wouldn’t say I was impressed with the design of this product. It takes a good swig to get anything out. I was expecting a pump, like the fizz mask, and it was more like a dropper that doesn’t drop any product onto your face/hands/wherever.
The product also had a minty-medicine-type smell to it. It almost felt like I was putting a medication on my face, and smelt that way too. I mean, probably a good thing because ~acne don’t just clear itself~ but I thought that was strange, seeing as it's a vegan product.
Overall, my first impression was that I wasn’t totally impressed. That being said, I did notice my skin felt a lot more firm. My blemishes were also less noticeable the morning after my first use, so I’ve continued to use this in my daily routine. Me and the bottle, however, it’s a daily struggle.
